Rangitoto Volcano – The Newest of Auckland’s Volcanoes

600 years ago, right where I am standing, the water began to boil. In the distance, the largest city in the South Pacific - Auckland - is visible. There are around 50 Auckland volcanoes, all located within the city limits. Yes, I'm in New Zealand, and on my first day outside of Australia, at the beginning of the biggest journey of my life, I'm standing on a the dormant Volcano known as Rangitoto.
